ABOUT THE WORK
I
specialize in wall drawings (including interactive pieces), paintings (on
canvas, wood, postcards and photomurals), hand-cut mylar, traditional drawings
and digital drawings (laptop, smart phone, gif animations and virtual reality). I
work quickly with no preconceptions, searching for imagery in the medium, which
surprises me both formally and conceptually, with an ear to the metaphorical
possibilities in abstracting the human head and figure. I have
produced dozens of improvised site-specific wall drawings since my first in
1994. I try to create a unique mural for the exhibition spaces even when I’m
showing paintings as well. “Vinyl Mural” was made over a few days the week
before the exhibition. It’s a temporary gift and the most recent piece in the
gallery. The paintings
are from the past few years continuing a theme of “Heads” and “Couples.” The postcard paintings
are all from 2018, building on the snowman subject that dates back to 2003.
